Lada became the leader in the number of car thefts in Russia in the first five months of 2025. This is 30% more than last year, according to AlfaStrakhovanie.
Year-on-year, according to AlfaStrakhovanie, the number of reported thefts increased by 1.3 times in January-May.
Among the car brands that are most often stolen, Lada, Hyundai, Kia, Renault and GAZ are the leaders. In the same period in 2024, according to insurers, Hyundai, Kia and Lada were the leaders.
Moscow still ranks first in the number of thefts among the regions. It is followed by St. Petersburg. This year, the Kursk, Astrakhan regions and the Udmurt Republic were included in the list of regions with a high frequency of thefts.
Last year, the Stavropol Territory, the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Karelia were also in the top five.
Among the Chinese cars that appear in the number of claims under casco insurance are Great Wall, Geely and Chery cars. These are still isolated cases, although compared to 2024, we see a trend towards an increase, since if a year ago it was one car of a Chinese brand, now several cases with different brands have been recorded. At the same time, we believe that it is still too early to draw conclusions, it is necessary to accumulate statistics.
Earlier, Russians were told that in order to protect the car's smart key from theft, you can use an anti-theft cover, a steering wheel lock and a security system. Regular software updates are also important for protection.
