Не знают даже бывалые водители: 10 самых частых штрафов за нарушения во дворе

Parking near garbage bins and prolonged engine warm-up can hit drivers' wallets hard

Many drivers believe that fines can only be received on public roads. However, even when leaving the highway, drivers are still responsible. Motorists should be careful and cautious behind the wheel, even in the yard of their own home. Otherwise, they face serious fines.

Bypassing Traffic Jams Through the Yard

Many drivers, in a hurry, try to shorten their route through yards or drive through a residential area to bypass a traffic jam. But this can result in a fine. In the regions, it is 1,500 rubles, and in Moscow and St. Petersburg — up to 3,000 rubles. It is important to remember that through traffic in residential areas is prohibited.

Through traffic is movement without stopping through the entire adjacent territory with subsequent exit onto a public road. It is important to note that in this context, we are not talking about drivers who drive through the yard to their home.

Minimum Speeding

Another fine that can be received while driving in the yard is a fine for speeding. It is important to remember that in residential areas, the speed should not exceed 20 km/h.

The speeding fine applies not only to drivers who bypass traffic jams. It also applies to those who drive too fast to their home.

As with speeding on public roads, there are differentiated fines ranging from 500 to 5,000 rubles.

Prolonged Engine Warm-up

In the eternal disputes about whether to warm up the engine before a trip, it is important to remember the rules that apply in a residential area. In yards, it is forbidden to leave the car with the engine running for more than five minutes. If you warm up the engine longer, you risk getting a fine.

For Moscow and St. Petersburg, the fine will be 3,000 rubles, and for the rest of the Russian regions — 1,500 rubles (Article 12.28 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation). The same sanctions threaten drivers who use auto-start to warm up their cars.

The Pedestrian is Always Right

In yards, pedestrians, who already have an advantage on public roads, enjoy additional privileges. For example, in yards, they can move both on sidewalks and on the roadway. In both cases, they have priority. However, there is an important point: in any case, they should not create unreasonable obstacles for cars (clause 17.1 of the Traffic Rules).

Drivers who do not take into account the priority of pedestrians in residential areas face a penalty in the form of a fine of 1.5 thousand to 3 thousand rubles, depending on the region where the violation was committed.

Fine for Honking

The use of the horn in a residential area is allowed only in one case — to prevent a traffic accident. In other situations, for example, when a driver wants to hurry their loved ones, this can lead to a fine of 500 rubles.

Drivers should remember the law that prohibits disturbing the peace of residents at night, early in the morning, as well as on Sundays and holidays. A prolonged horn signal may fall under this category. For example, in Moscow, a motorist who "honks" at the wrong hours can be fined 1-2 thousand rubles if residents of a nearby house complain about them.

Parking on the Lawn

Sometimes finding a free parking space in the yard of a house can be a real challenge for drivers. In such a situation, some of them, without hesitation, park on the lawn.

However, sometimes drivers can accidentally drive onto the lawn. For example, in winter, when it is covered with snow. However, in both cases, they face fines of 5 thousand rubles.

It is important to remember that not only MADI inspectors can record such violations, but also ordinary citizens. For this, there is a special application with which you can photograph an incorrectly parked car and send the pictures to the relevant department.

Parking at the Garbage Site

A driver can also be fined if they leave their car near a garbage site. However, the fine is only due to those who, by their actions, blocked the passage of the garbage truck to the bins. If this did not happen, then the fine order can be challenged.

If the car still blocked the way for special transport, then the violator will have to pay from 5 thousand to 30 thousand rubles. Such rules apply in a number of Russian regions, including the Moscow, Novgorod and Kaluga regions, as well as the Primorsky Territory.

Evacuation from the Yard

Often, improper parking in a residential area leads to the fact that the exit from the yard is blocked. In addition to a large fine, which can range from 2 to 3 thousand rubles, depending on the region, the owners of such cars face evacuation to the impound lot.

According to the rules of the road, a car that creates obstacles for the passage of other vehicles can be evacuated. This also applies to cars that force other road users to violate the rules, for example, to drive onto the sidewalk or lawn to bypass them.

Car Repair

Drivers, trying to save money, often try to fix malfunctions in their car on their own. However, before starting repairs, it is important to remember some important points.

For example, when changing oil or brake fluid, as well as antifreeze and paint, you should be especially careful. All these substances are toxic and can harm the environment. If they get on the ground during repairs, the driver faces a large fine of 3,000 to 5,000 rubles.

Driving Under a "No Entry" Sign

Some drivers believe that if they live in this area, they can turn into their yard, even if the sign prohibits it. However, traffic rules apply to all road users.

The fine for driving under a prohibiting sign is 500 rubles. However, there are exceptions. If, during the turn, the driver enters the oncoming lane and continues to move along it, the punishment will be more severe. The amount of the fine will increase to 5 thousand rubles, and, possibly, the driver will be deprived of their rights for up to six months.

Earlier, President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law that provides for increased fines for a number of traffic violations. The changes came into force on January 1, 2025.
