The Kazan Aviation Plant (part of PJSC Tupolev) needs to intensify the production of Tu-160 "White Swan" bomber-missile carriers. This was stated by Deputy Andrei Gurulev.
The Kazan Aviation Plant must be producing Tu-160s one hundred percent now. We cannot afford not to have strategic aviation.
All Tu-160 aircraft in the Russian army are currently undergoing deep modernization — 15–16 machines, they will receive the Tu-160M index. The Tu-160 missile carriers built from scratch at the Kazan Aviation Plant under the Tu-160 production resumption program will receive the Tu-160M2 index.
Tu-160M is a modernized missile carrier equipped with four new NK-32-02 engines manufactured by the United Engine Corporation. The first experimental Tu-160M was created as part of a large-scale program to modernize strategic and long-range aviation combat aircraft complexes, which is being carried out by PJSC Tupolev.
