Russia definitely does not need to restore the production of Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3. This opinion was expressed by aviation expert Oleg Panteleev.
According to him, cheap drones of the Geran family and other similar types of weapons are now more in demand. But this does not mean that heavy missile carriers should be written off.
It makes sense to keep the existing fleet "on wing". These machines are used today and may be needed in the future. If we are talking about increasing the number of carriers of aviation missile weapons, then this should be done through more modern aircraft. For a global conflict scenario, the Tu-160M may be more in demand, while for local conflicts, aircraft of smaller size and with a much lower cost per flight hour are rational.
Also, in recent years, there has been a wide development of drones capable of acting as a wingman and taking on the most risky tasks associated with countering enemy fighters and breaking through air defense forces.
If we are talking about a global conflict, then the presence of strategic missile carriers, such as the Tu-160M, and the future PAK DA will become a mandatory solution.
