Производство мотор-редукторов для протезов запускает «Карфидов Лаб»

Moscow Design Bureau has replaced imported components previously supplied from abroad

The Moscow design bureau «Karfidov Lab» has received a certificate of compliance for two gear motors with a built-in encoder, developed for limb prostheses. These devices, which provide movement of prosthetic elements, were previously imported from EU countries. Now, thanks to the company's efforts and the support of the Agency for Technological Development, Russia is launching its own production of such components.

Medicine and the rehabilitation industry are within our special focus due to their high social significance for all of Russia. It is gratifying that the creation of domestic gear motors for prostheses is moving from the design stage to production. We are focused on supporting maximum import substitution of critical components in the interests of national healthcare.
Irina Golub, Managing Director of the Agency for Technological Development

Gear motors are complex electromechanical systems that drive the elements of prostheses, allowing them to perform gripping functions and other actions. The development took three years as part of reverse engineering competitions organized by the Agency. «Karfidov Lab» conducted an analysis of Russian materials, 3D scanning, digital modeling, and testing, ensuring reliability comparable to foreign counterparts.

The Agency for Technological Development provided us with invaluable assistance, not only by providing grants for reverse engineering of gear motors, but also by assisting in obtaining samples of analogues and selecting Russian enterprises that have retained the necessary high-precision production technologies, while being in constant contact with us on all development issues. Thanks to it, Russians in need of rehabilitation after injuries and wounds will have more opportunities to return to their normal lives, and domestic enterprises will be able to create new jobs and not purchase modules from foreign suppliers.
Alexey Karfidov, General Designer of «Karfidov Lab»

Production of pilot batches will begin in the Tula region. Sets of design documentation have been transferred to the Agency, and the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry has confirmed the Russian origin of the products.
