Не останется и следа: импланты с уникальными свойствами разработали в НИТУ МИСИС

NUST MISIS and Osteo-Syber have created the first domestic line of resorbable medical structures

Scientists from NUST MISIS, in collaboration with Osteo-Syber, have developed and launched the production of bioresorbable magnesium implants for maxillofacial surgery and traumatology. These structures do not require removal, as they gradually dissolve in the body, being replaced by bone tissue.

The development includes 18 types of products for traumatology and 6 for maxillofacial surgery — screws, pins, and plates. The uniqueness of the alloys lies in the controlled resorption rate and high biocompatibility, which reduces rehabilitation time and lowers the risk of complications.

The first operations using the new implants were performed at the Russian University of Medicine. According to Alexander Komissarov, Director of the Advanced Engineering School at NUST MISIS, the results confirmed the effectiveness and safety of the technology.

The first proactive clinical testing took place at the Russian University of Medicine of the Ministry of Health of Russia. Colleagues confirmed the promise of the developed approach. We conducted two operations – the implants showed a high degree of fixation, and resorption proceeded without complications. This is a significant achievement not only for the research team at NUST MISIS, but also a strong argument in favor of transitioning to a new level of maxillofacial surgery. We are currently in the process of obtaining registration certification from Roszdravnadzor in collaboration with our industrial partner.

Osteo-Syber, a Skolkovo resident, is already in negotiations for deliveries to India, the Middle East, and Latin America.

We have passed a key scientific stage and are entering the market with a ready-made product that is already generating interest in India, the Middle East, and Latin America. Thanks to our partnership with MISIS and leading medical institutions, we have created a full-cycle technology and are ready to scale up. The market potential is enormous – and we know how to realize it.
Margarita Kellerman, Head of Osteo-Syber

The project is implemented within the framework of the Priority-2030 program and aligns with the strategy of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to localize critically important products.
