Water transport routes throughout Russia appeared on Yandex Maps

The function will help residents of regions with developed river and lake infrastructure plan their route

With the onset of the river navigation season, a new function has appeared in Yandex Maps that allows you to build routes taking into account water transport: trams, ferries, high-speed passenger ships, and others. This is especially convenient for residents of regions where rivers and lakes are an important part of the urban infrastructure.

In 2025, more than 300 water routes will operate in Russia, including high-speed vessels such as the Valdai and Meteor, which connect different regions of the country. These routes are taken into account when building public transport routes in Yandex Maps.

The largest number of water routes is available in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Arkhangelsk Region, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Samara Region and Irkutsk Region.

Rating of regions by the number of public transport water routes:

  1. Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug — 40 routes.
  2. Arkhangelsk Region — 26 routes.
  3. Krasnoyarsk Territory — 18 routes.
  4. Samara Region — 14 routes.
  5. Irkutsk Region — 13 routes.
  6. Omsk Region — 13 routes.
  7. Republic of Tatarstan — 13 routes.
  8. Perm Territory — 13 routes.
  9. Komi Republic — 13 routes.
  10. Tomsk Region — 11 routes.

In Yandex Maps, you can build a route that includes a crossing. To do this, you need to specify the destination. If it is most convenient to get there by water, the service will offer a route with a crossing.

In Moscow, you can track the movement of electric vessels in real time. To do this, you need to find water transport by route number in the search bar. The screen will display the route of the vessel, moving icons, as well as information about piers and schedules.

Earlier, the State Transport Leasing Company accepted two new passenger electric vessels of project 401001 at the Emperium shipyard in the Leningrad Region. These "Ecobuses" are designed for regular river routes in Moscow. They are economical and environmentally friendly.
