NPK Morsvyazavtomatika LLC plans to build its own shipyard for the serial production of hybrid catamarans with retractable hydrofoils. The expected production volume is 12 vessels per year. The first model may be presented as early as mid-2027.
The company already has experience in developing vessels, including the Ecovolt project, the first model of which was launched in St. Petersburg in 2020. Serial production of Cityvolt and Ecocruiser vessels, in the development of which the company also participated, is currently underway at the Emperium shipyard in the Leningrad Region.
Now Morsvyazavtomatika intends to start its own serial production of high-speed catamarans. Locations in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region are being considered for the shipyard, but a final decision on the location has not yet been made.
The shipyard will be more like an automobile plant, with a conveyor system where fiberglass will be laid at the beginning, and a finished vessel will be launched at the end.
The finished catamarans are planned to be supplied to regions with active use of water transport on inland waterways, as well as for transportation in the coastal zone of the seas. The vessel's passenger capacity will be 80 people, cruising speed - 47 km/h, displacement - 28 tons, and draft without foils - 650 mm, with foils raised - 1000 mm.
