Наклейка, которая может спасти жизнь: Евгений Панарин удостоен премии Санкт-Петербургского отделения Российской академии наук имени С. Н. Ковалёва

A modern sticker for sealing the chest in case of penetrating injuries was awarded a prize

Evgeny Fedorovich Panarin, scientific director of the branch of the NRC "Kurchatov Institute" - PIYAF, became a laureate of the S. N. Kovalev Prize of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The award was given for the development of an occlusive sticker to eliminate pneumothorax - a dangerous condition that occurs with penetrating chest injuries.

Panarin's invention is a three-layer polymer structure with a hydrophilic adhesive layer based on ultra-high molecular weight polyvinylpyrrolidone, the production of which was implemented at the enterprise OOO "Orgpolymersintez SPb". This material provides reliable attachment even to moist or blood-covered skin. Unlike foreign analogues, the Russian development contains antiseptic additives that prevent wound infection. The use of domestic raw materials and original synthesis technology made it possible to create a product that surpasses foreign analogues in key parameters.

The sticker has already passed clinical trials and has been put into mass production. It is included in the equipment of medical teams of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and is used in civil medicine in the provision of emergency care.
