The "High-Precision Systems" holding (part of Rostec) has begun the state testing phase of the new BT-3F floating armored personnel carrier, created on the basis of the BMP-3. The combat vehicle has critical shortcomings that it inherited from its predecessor, according to the Telegram channel "Military Informant."
The authors noted that the BT-3F has very low mine protection, inconvenient boarding/disembarking of troops due to the engine location, and rather weak armor.
And if nothing can obviously be done with the layout, then it would be right to provide this APC with at least an adequate standard set of additional armor, increasing the protection of the vehicle and the survival of those sitting inside, when the BT-3F will cross not water obstacles.
According to them, while the BT-3F was making its way to state tests, it had already become outdated based on the experience of the modern battlefield.
If in 2016, when the first machines appeared at exhibitions, it could look like a pretty good armored personnel carrier for the Marine Corps, then after almost 10 years and more than 3 years of combat experience, this machine is no longer a discovery - only, on the contrary, a consolidation of existing flaws and conceptual errors.
