The developers of the Russian electric car "Atom" have announced the integration of a voice assistant with artificial intelligence support. The new functionality will allow drivers to control the car's systems using voice commands, increasing safety and comfort.
The "Atom" voice assistant will be closely connected to the onboard systems, including climate control, seat adjustment, mirrors, lighting, multimedia, and navigation. A feature of the technology is the ability to work offline, analyze the car's condition, and provide recommendations, for example, on optimizing battery charge.
With the expansion of car functions, drivers are faced with a new problem: an overabundance of information. In such conditions, a voice assistant becomes an integral part of modern systems, allowing you to control complex car functions using natural voice commands. It is important to note that the voice assistant will be integrated with other Atom interfaces: augmented reality projection on the windshield (AR HUD), as well as a tablet on the steering wheel. For this reason, our team strives to develop voice control as a more natural interface, where it is enough to simply say a command to access the necessary function. The main emphasis is on performance and automated response, as well as building high-quality and understandable dialogues.
Using neural network algorithms, the assistant will adapt to the owner's preferences, suggesting points of interest along the route: cafes, attractions, and other locations. The software is being developed by Enbisys, a company specializing in AI-based solutions.
Our goal is to place generative artificial intelligence with a voice interface into the onboard information system of the Atom electric car. This should make the experience of using the car very pleasant and efficient due to smart behavioral patterns. The voice assistant will not repeat programmed phrases, will always take into account the context of the conversation, rely on both internal knowledge base and colossal background knowledge, and will be able to respond to any request. In this project, we face significant technical challenges every day. We are solving issues for the first time that few people have solved in Russia. This is a very high bar set for us by the Atom team, but that is what makes the project interesting. This motivates and captivates our entire team.
The "Atom" electric car has been developed since 2021 by JSC "KAMA". The company brings together more than 1,600 experts with experience in the largest Russian and international automotive and IT companies. The competence center and production site are located in Moscow, and divisions are located in Naberezhnye Chelny, St. Petersburg, Tolyatti, as well as in Nanjing and Shanghai (China). The launch of mass production of "Atoms" is planned for 2025.
The car is equipped with a 204-horsepower engine, a 77 kWh battery (range up to 500 km), and a unique electronic architecture, including the "Atom OS" and AR projection on the windshield.
