About half a million DDoS attacks were registered in 2024 on companies in Russia, which is almost twice as much as in 2023. Regional enterprises are becoming more frequent targets of attackers. Experts attribute this to the search for more vulnerable victims and changes in the geopolitical situation.
Experts from Solar Group reported that the largest number of attacks per company is still recorded in the capital — 192 incidents in 2024. However, hackers have begun to actively target businesses in the regions. For example, in the Southern Federal District, the number of attacks per company increased by 50% last year, reaching 135 cases. In the Volga and Ural districts, this figure doubled, amounting to 126 and 116 attacks, respectively.
Overall, according to Solar Group, 508 thousand DDoS attacks on Russian organizations were recorded in 2024. This is 50% more than in 2023, but 33% less than in 2022.
The average power of attacks increased by 3.5 times compared to the previous year, which is associated with the use of more powerful botnets. Roskomnadzor recorded the strongest attack in 2024, which lasted more than four days and reached a capacity of 2.38 Tbit/s, targeting one of the hosting providers.
