StormWall specialists have recorded the most powerful DDoS attacks on Russian hosting providers. The maximum power of the detected botnet reached a record 1.5 Tbit/s for Russia this year. This was reported by the company's press service.
The botnet consisted of more than 100,000 hacked devices and included mainly Asus routers. They were used by attackers to carry out combined DDoS attacks on the infrastructure of hosting providers.
Hosting providers with DDoS protection already connected, which were subjected to powerful DDoS attacks using the new botnet, did not experience complete unavailability of their client services. However, not all protection tools coped equally well with this task.
The attacks often came from IP addresses in countries such as Ukraine, Romania, Singapore, the USA, China and Hong Kong. Most of the attacks (62%) came from IP addresses in the USA. From Russian IP addresses - 9% of the total number of attacks. In total, more than 100,000 IP addresses of the botnet were identified.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that hackersattacked the Russian antivirus manufacturer "Doctor Web".
