Атакует IT-провайдеров: специалисты обнаружили опасный ботнет

Attack power in Russia reached 1.5 Tbit/s this year

StormWall specialists have recorded the most powerful DDoS attacks on Russian hosting providers. The maximum power of the detected botnet reached a record 1.5 Tbit/s for Russia this year. This was reported by the company's press service.

The botnet consisted of more than 100 thousand hacked devices and included mainly Asus routers. They were used by attackers to carry out combined DDoS attacks on the infrastructure of hosting providers.

Hosting providers with DDoS protection already enabled, which were subjected to powerful DDoS attacks using the new botnet, did not experience complete unavailability of their client services. However, not all protection tools coped equally well with this task.

From Russian IP addresses — 9% of the total number of attacks. In total, more than 100 thousand IP addresses of the botnet were identified.

Earlier www1.ru reported that hackers attacked the Russian antivirus manufacturer "Doctor Web".
