Unique robotic scout with an unusual principle of movement developed in Russia

The complex is capable of moving on almost any surface

Specialists from the Izhevsk State Technical University named after M.T. Kalashnikov have created the first prototype of a sphere robot in Russia, which uses a combined principle for movement. The device was developed for reconnaissance purposes.

The ball can move on almost any surface, including water. The appearance of the complex is a compact drone equipped with a camera.

The production cost of the robot is about 3-5 thousand rubles. The robot can be controlled as a drone, or programmed to independently perform a task. The developers experimented with different ways of setting the ball in motion, identified the most effective ones and combined them in one hybrid device.

The payload is placed inside the sphere, its mass is used to set the robot in motion. The prototype has a mass of 200-300 g and a diameter of 12 cm. It can carry equipment of similar mass and move at a speed of up to 1 m/s.

The design of a larger version of the robot will allow it to carry a payload of greater mass than its own.

Earlier www1.ru reported that UAV for the first time flew between regions in Russia according to the rules of civil aviation.
