The release of the new LMS-901 "Baikal" aircraft is not expected, work on it has reached a dead end. This was announced at a meeting in the State Duma by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev.
You know that we were working on the development of a small "Baikal" aircraft. Today, it has reached a dead end. That is, the "Baikal" aircraft is not expected.
The politician stated that there is practically no small aviation in Russia today.
The release of the "Baikal" aircraft was planned at the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) back in 2019, it was supposed to replace the An-2. Trutnev noted that the estimated base cost of the Russian "Baikal" aircraft will be about 178 million rubles, although before that the aircraft was estimated at 120 million rubles.
The main problems with "Baikal" concern stability at low speeds, excessive effort on the steering wheel, as well as the need to rework the tail and landing gear. These defects require significant improvements, which may cost at least 10 billion rubles, which is five times more expensive than the cost of modernizing the An-2.
Earlierwww1.ru reported thatRostec showed a detailed video of the flight of the "Superjet" with PD-8 at an extreme speed.
