Belarus expects to receive the first pair of Russian Su-30SM2s at the end of May. This was announced by the commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the republic, Andrei Lukyanovich.

According to him, these aircraft are equipped with modern avionics and are more advanced. They have broad combat capabilities, including in the use of aviation weapons.
Lukyanovich noted that new aviation equipment is entering the Armed Forces of Belarus, in particular new Mi-35M helicopters and Su-30SM fighter aircraft.
As part of the modernization of the Su-30SM2 aircraft, imported equipment was replaced with domestic counterparts. The fighter received improved tactical and technical characteristics of the optoelectronic sighting and navigation system, a radar control system with increased air target detection range, and a complex of electronic countermeasures.
In addition, the range of guided aviation weapons of the "air-to-air", "air-to-surface" class for ground, air, including radar and sea targets, has been expanded with an increase in their range.
