Russian BEC "Katran" to Launch "Skvorets-VMF" Kamikaze Drones

The Center for Unmanned Systems and Technologies (CUST) is modernizing the "Skvorets-VMF" kamikaze drone for launch from the board of unmanned surface vehicles (BEC) "Katran". This was announced by military expert Evgeny Damantsev.

The drone will be launched at a distance of 5–10 km from the boat and used for reconnaissance and strike purposes. Work is also underway to integrate the "Skvorets" with other BECs, including developments already used in the Black Sea.

The key problem for domestic BECs is ensuring a reliable communication channel from the launcher to the BEC and from the BEC to the launched drone. At the moment, control is carried out via specialized radio communication channels with the possibility of retransmission.

The decision to create a BEC-UAV pair was made at the Technical Council for the Development of Marine Unmanned Systems, created in April, with the participation of the CUST and the Main Command of the Russian Navy.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia has set a goal to achieve import substitution in the production of machine tools up to 95%.
