Срок службы самолетов Як-40 запланировали продлить до 60 лет

Airlines intend to maintain the aging fleet amid aircraft shortages

The service life of passenger Yak-40 aircraft is planned to be extended from 50 to 60 years "to meet the needs of operators." Production of the aircraft ceased back in 1981, and now about 15 such aircraft are involved in flights.

The main criterion for extending the term will be an assessment of compliance with the standards of the Federal Aviation Regulations for resource, strength and corrosion, a representative of PJSC "Yakovlev" (part of the United Aircraft Corporation of Rostec) specified.

The need to refine the aircraft and the amount of such work will vary depending on the condition of the aircraft.

The purpose of these plans is to meet the needs of operators in flights on this type of aircraft, the corresponding decision and issuance of documents may occur in December, said a representative of Rosaviatsia.

Earlier www1.ru reported that there are no foreign parts left in the SJ-100 aircraft.
