A BMD-4M with additional protection of a new type was spotted at the Victory Parade rehearsal in Moscow. Footage of the modernized vehicles appeared online.
The hull sides of the airborne combat vehicles have been seriously reinforced, with new-shaped armored screens installed on them, covering the elements of the chassis. Additional "overlays" are also visible in the front.
The protection of the gunner-operator's and commander's sights has been improved. The turret is shrouded in a special net that should neutralize HEAT projectiles.
Similar devices are also available on the air-droppable amphibious armored personnel carrier BTR-MD "Rakushka".
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Russian Navy received a new Alexandrite-class minesweeper.
