On Thursday, April 24, the anti-mine defense ship "Polyarny" of Project 12700, code "Alexandrite," was launched in St. Petersburg. These unique ships have repeatedly proven their high seaworthiness and combat characteristics, noted the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy (VMF), Alexander Moiseev.
The ship was laid down in June 2022 at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant (part of USC).
"Polyarny" is the tenth minesweeper in the "Alexandrite" line. The ship was named in honor of the city of military glory — Polyarny. During the Great Patriotic War, the main base of the Northern Fleet was located in the city. Currently, submarines and ships of the Kola Flotilla are based in Polyarny.
The construction of Project 12700 ships uses the latest technologies that have no analogues in world shipbuilding. The ships have the world's largest hull made of monolithic fiberglass, formed by vacuum infusion.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Su-30 fighter overshadowed the Superjet SJ-100 in the test flight video.
