The Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (JSC "IMZ", part of the Kalashnikov Group) has invested more than 200 million rubles in the modernization of the precision casting section using investment patterns of the preform-metallurgical production division during 2023–2025.
As part of the investment project, six units of modern equipment were installed at the production facility: an air conditioner, a boiler-clave, a drying chamber conveyor, a pass-through furnace for calcining blocks before casting, and two melting complexes.
The modernization allowed automating the production of gating systems, improving the processes of applying a fire-resistant coating and melting out the filler, which ultimately significantly improved the quality of metal castings that are made in this area. If necessary, IMZ will be able to double the production of precision casting using investment patterns.
With the help of precision casting using investment patterns, IMZ manufactures complex parts of the receiver for the MR-27 shotgun, as well as bolts and frames for the Makarov pistol and products based on it: the MR-71 service pistol, the MR-371 signal pistol, the Baikal-442 sports training pistol, the MR-654 pneumatic pistol, the MR-79-9 and MR-80 traumatic pistols.
