The time of airships is returning to Russia. This was announced by the President of the International Association "Union of Aviation Engine Builders", Professor Viktor Chuiko.
New airships are filled with helium. It is safe. And the carrying capacity can reach 200 tons. Yes, the speed is low, within 100 km/h, but a lot of cargo can be transported. The body of a modern airship can be made of composite materials.
He noted that modern airships are safe and effective for transporting goods in the northern territories of Russia.
In December 2023, the government amended the order approving the unified plan for the implementation of the Fundamentals of the State Policy of the Russian Federation in the Arctic until 2035. The updated plan includes the preparation of proposals for the creation of airships capable of transporting goods weighing from 30 to 200 tons in remote areas of the Arctic zone. The state corporation "Rostec", the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and Rosaviatsiya have been appointed responsible for the execution.
In addition to airships, small aircraft and helicopters with dual-fuel engines can also be used to perform flights in the regions of the Far North. A report on the progress of the projects will need to be submitted to the government annually, starting from the fourth quarter of 2024.
Earlier www1.ru reported that airships will be able to provide up to 30% of cargo transportation in the Arctic.
