A display version of the Lada Iskra Sport was shown at the VAZ factory museum in Togliatti.
In this sports model, the engine capacity was increased from 1.6 to 1.8 liters. This made it possible to increase the engine power to 173 hp. To achieve such results, the crankshaft and connecting rods were reinforced, the intake and exhaust systems were modernized, as well as the engine controller.
The body of the racing sedan was lightened to improve dynamic performance. The car was equipped with a welded safety cage to increase the level of protection for the driver and passengers. Special shock absorbers and stiffer springs were additionally installed, and rubber-metal silent blocks were replaced with rigid spherical hinges.
