Знаменательное событие в мире атомных строек: Росатом начал изготовление корпуса реактора шестого энергоблока АЭС «Пакш-2»

Blanks weighing approximately 600 tons were manufactured to create the reactor vessel

Specialists at "AEM-Spetsstal" plant (Rosatom's Engineering Division) have started forging a batch of blanks for the elements of the reactor vessel for Unit 6 of the Paks-2 NPP in Hungary. The total weight of the blanks is approximately 600 tons.

Forging blanks is one of the initial stages of reactor equipment production and is carried out on one of the largest automated forging complexes in Europe. First, the blanks are shaped, then the parts undergo machining. In the end, important structural elements of the VVER-1200 Generation II+ reactor vessel will be made from them.

The construction of the Paks-2 NPP is the first modern Russian-designed NPP project with VVER-1200 reactors being implemented in the European Union. Currently, there are four power units with VVER-440 reactors operating at the Paks NPP, built in the 1980s. They provide a significant portion of the country's electricity consumption. The construction of the fifth and sixth power units under the Paks-2 project is 80% financed by a Russian loan, with the total project cost amounting to €12.5 billion.

After the commissioning of the new reactors in the early 2030s, the capacity of the nuclear complex in Paks will increase from 2000 MW to 4400 MW, and the share of electricity generated by nuclear power plants will reach 70% in the country's energy balance.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Rosatom promised to build the most beautiful and safest NPP in the European Union.
