Footage of the last remaining Il-86 appears: they wanted to get it airborne back in 2022

The aircraft was built in 1989 and flew until 2008

Footage of the last remaining Russian Il-86 aircraft, which is located at the Sheremetyevo Airport training center, has appeared online. Currently, the aircraft is only used for training flight attendants.

In the spring of 2022, there was talk of a possible return of the Il-86 to service. The aircraft has been preserved intact and still "lives" from an external power source.

However, there is one caveat: the "Aeroexpress" overpass will prevent it from returning to the airport, and the Il-86 cannot take off vertically.

The Il-86 is the first and most mass-produced Soviet passenger wide-body aircraft. It was mass-produced in 1980-1997 at the Voronezh Aircraft Plant. A total of 106 aircraft were produced. Since January 2011, the Il-86 has not flown on passenger flights.

Il-86 flight characteristics:

Cruising speed - 950 km/h, flight range with maximum payload - 3800 km, service ceiling - 12000 m, crew - 3, passengers in a three-class cabin - 314.

Earlier www1.ru reported that 200 aircraft will be built in Russia by 2030: there are guaranteed buyers with money.
