Avroid, a company developing applications for the Russian operating system "Aurora", has announced a temporary suspension of operations from March to the end of June. Employees are not receiving salaries. The reason for the suspension is related to financial difficulties.
Employees have not been paid salaries since March. Due to the lack of work, people are gradually resigning. Some employees have also been transferred to remote work.
The debt to employees is primarily due to negotiations to attract a new investor. Currently, Avroid is working on restructuring its business to reduce its dependence on the Aurora OS.
According to him, it was expected at the beginning of the year that 50,000 devices would be shipped with Aurora. However, this quantity was not enough to ensure a stable income. In this regard, the shareholders decided to expand the range of products for other operating systems.
Since Avroid is currently developing software products for the Aurora OS, our financial performance directly depends on the number of devices on the Aurora OS. With the current forecasts for 2025, we are reducing investment in development for this operating system and attracting a new investor to diversify the product portfolio. At the same time, obligations to employees remain our top priority in this situation.
According to Pavel Eiges, CEO of Open Mobile Platform, which develops the Aurora operating system, Avroid is creating two popular products. The first is the TAVRO messenger, which allows using Telegram on devices with the Aurora operating system.
The second product is a container for running Android applications on devices with the Aurora operating system. It is called "AVROID Platform".
At the same time, Eiges emphasized that Avroid is not the only creator of applications for Aurora. Currently, there are more than a hundred applications for the domestic operating system available in the Russian Rutore store.
According to Eiges, more than 500,000 devices manufactured at the Aurora plant have been shipped to the market since 2016. Avroid LLC was registered in January 2023 in the city of Svetlogorsk, Kaliningrad Region.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a prototype payment terminal running on the Aurora operating system was presented for the first time at the Finopolis 2024 forum. This Russian mobile operating system was developed and promoted by Open Mobile Platform.
