Keels of two RSD81 project dry cargo ships laid in Astrakhan

The vessels are designed for the transportation of general and bulk cargo

The keels of two RSD81 project dry cargo ships were laid at the production site of the Lenin Shipyard in Astrakhan. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

The RSD81 project vessels are designed for the transportation of general and bulk cargo (including grain), 20- and 40-foot international standard containers (up to 385 TEU, including 160 TEU on hatch covers).

Dry cargo ships can transport packaged lumber, round timber, scrap metal and metal in bundles and rolls, oversized, long and heavy cargo, coal, as well as dangerous goods. They will be operated on inland waterways, including the Volga-Baltic Waterway and the Volga-Don Canal.

Vessel characteristics: overall length — 141 m, overall width — 16.98 m, deadweight — 9345 tons, board height — 6.8 m, draft — 5.3 m.

The customer of the RSD81 project vessels is GTLK. It is planned to build 6 dry cargo ships in this series. The work will be completed by the end of 2026.
