Engineers of SKB-3 (part of the military-industrial holding "Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant", KMZ) designed an upgraded tooling for manufacturing impeller castings (a blade-type mechanism placed in a specialized housing) of the KMZJET-180 water jet propulsor. This was reported by the holding's press service.
The new model tooling is necessary to improve the geometric accuracy of castings. The mold allows the impeller to be cast as a whole. Previously, the blades were made separately and soldered to the hub.
About the KMZJET-180 Propulsor
KMZJET-180 was developed by KMZ specialists. It is a single-stage mixed-flow pump with high pressure, creating a jet stream that propels the vessel.
Propulsor characteristics:
- Impeller size — 180 mm
- Engine power — up to 250 hp
- Propulsor weight — 55.6 kg
