The Russian Iskander operational-tactical missile system (OTRK) is designed to fire ballistic missiles, but can also fire cruise missiles, according to military expert Vasily Dandykin.
According to him, the "ballistics" also have good speed characteristics - from 4 Mach.
In principle, a missile that is difficult to shoot down even with sophisticated Western air defense systems. The firing range is 500 kilometers. Now the accuracy has increased, because there is guidance in different directions: intelligence is working, space is working, drones are working.
The Iskander-M's range of ammunition includes armor-piercing, high-explosive fragmentation, incendiary, cluster and nuclear warheads. The missiles are guided to the target via a satellite system, and a homing head starts working in the final section.
The Iskander-M is used to destroy enemy air defense systems, as well as other important objects at a maximum range of up to 500 km.
