Ten-year plan in five years: Russia developed an aircraft engine twice as fast as anyone else in the world

Designers of the UEC took only 5 years to develop the VK-650V

It took designers from the United Engine Corporation (UEC) only five years to develop the VK-650V aircraft helicopter engine. This is twice as fast as the global average.

The development of the preliminary design of the new engine started in 2019. In 2023, the VK-650V engineering tests were successfully completed.

In 2024, the new power plant began to be tested as part of the Ansat helicopter. Moreover, a type certificate for the engine has already been obtained.

The VK-650V is the first domestic engine for the light helicopters Ka-226T and Ansat. It is also used in other promising domestic developments, such as the hybrid power plant (HPP), which will be used for drones and air taxis.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that KAZ had signed contracts for the supply of 23 Tu-214 passenger aircraft.
