The reactor vessel for the first power unit of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt is scheduled to be installed closer to the end of 2025. This was announced by Alexey Kononenko, Vice President of Atomstroyexport JSC and Project Director for the construction of the NPP.
There are a number of key events that are control points for the construction of the facility, and the main task for us this year is to install the reactor vessel at the first power unit, its "heart". The ceremony is tentatively scheduled for the second half of this year.
Kononenko noted that the construction of the station has gained very good momentum, and the work is proceeding without delays. All necessary decisions are made quickly.
El Dabaa NPP will be the first nuclear power plant in Egypt and is being built with the assistance of Rosatom. The station is located in the city of El Dabaa in the Matrouh province on the Mediterranean coast, approximately 300 km northwest of Cairo. It will consist of four power units with a capacity of 1,200 MW each, equipped with Russian-class VVER-1200 water-cooled reactors.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Turkish Akkuyu ceded the title of the world's largest nuclear construction site to the Egyptian El Dabaa.
