Rudder propellers (azimuth thruster) were installed on the dry cargo vessel of the RSD59 project, which is being built by specialists of the Krasnoye Sormovo plant in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by the press service of the enterprise.
Before installation, the rudder propellers were cleaned and painted in the SC-7 workshop. Then they were moved to the stern of the vessel and lifted with a crane. After installation, the rudder propellers will be checked and adjusted.
A rudder propeller is a type of propulsion unit in the form of a propeller located on a column that rotates 360°. The device can be the main propulsion unit or a thruster, replacing or supplementing the ship's rudder. It allows maneuvering in confined conditions without attracting a tugboat.
Dry cargo vessels of the RSD59 project are used for the transportation of:
- general and bulk cargo
- packaged lumber
- round timber
- scrap metal
- oversized, long and heavy cargo
- coal
- dangerous goods, including category B (including explosive substances)
