Lada Iskra seems like a modern car to me. As I understand it, Iskra is intended to replace Lada Granta. This model is selling well now, but time takes its toll.
According to Bo Andersson, the new model will be at a level above Lada Granta, but below Lada Vesta, which will allow it to occupy its niche in the Russian automotive market. He also emphasized that he considers AvtoVAZ to be an unconditionally profitable company.
