Lada Aura was placed on a V-tech dyno to check the real power of the VAZ 21179 1.8-liter 122 hp engine.
It turned out that the actual figures are 114.4 hp. The maximum torque is also lower — 163.4 Nm against the declared 170 Nm.
Experts explained that it was not possible to obtain the declared power for two reasons. Firstly, the measurements were carried out using 92-octane gasoline. The user manual states that the recommended fuel is gasoline with an octane rating of 95, and 92 is allowed to be used in the absence of 95.
Secondly, the Lada Aura variator "does not hold" the selected gear if the engine speed reaches 5.5 thousand. The engine does not produce the 5.9 thousand revolutions per minute provided by the manufacturer.
In 2024, AvtoVAZ sold 263 Lada Aura to dealers and retail customers. But deliveries were clearly larger, as many cars were supplied under government contracts.
