Pilots of a separate shipborne fighter aviation regiment of the mixed aviation corps of the Northern Fleet performed flights on MiG-29KUB carrier-based fighters in the difficult conditions of the Arctic. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
During the training flights, the crews of MiG-29KUB fighters practiced elements of combat maneuvering, as well as aerobatics at different altitudes.
The flights took place in twilight conditions after the end of the polar night, which requires special training from pilots. The crews also practiced actions to guide to the target and intercept a mock enemy aircraft.
After completing the flight missions, the fighters returned to the Severomorsk-3 permanent deployment airfield.
MiG-29KUB is a modification of the MiG-29K carrier-based fighter. The shipborne version received the Zhuk-ME radar with a target detection range of up to 200 km and modern avionics. The MiG-29K was developed using stealth technologies.
