Specialists from the Baltic Shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC) have loaded the main switchboard (MSB) onto the under-construction nuclear icebreaker Chukotka of Project 22220. This was reported by the USC press service.
The MSB is designed to distribute and control electricity. During the mooring trials, energy will be supplied to the switchboard from the shore, and after the completion of construction, from the icebreaker's generators.
Currently, workers are forming the superstructure of the icebreaker. Loading, installation, and mounting of sections for equipment placement are underway. The height of the Chukotka after the completion of the hull formation will exceed 50 meters.
The superstructure will house:
- navigation bridge
- communications post
- cabins
- gym
- equipment for navigation and vessel control
About the icebreaker Chukotka
The universal nuclear icebreaker Chukotka is the fifth vessel of Project 22220. It is being built at the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg. The icebreaker will ensure year-round navigation in the Arctic and will join the fleet of GC «Rosatom».
