TikTok users in Russia are reporting problems with the app after it was blocked in the US. The service is displaying messages intended for American users to Russians. Changing the region in the settings does not help.
TikTok is not blocked in Russia, but the Chinese developer company ByteDance independently introduced restrictions on the app's operation in Russia in 2022. Users cannot upload videos, but they can view the feed and use the chat.
Since January 19, 2025, TikTok has restricted access for users from the United States. This happened a few hours before the US federal law banning the platform from operating in the country came into force.
