Roskomnadzor has for the first time blocked resources belonging to foreign hosting providers. Under the terms of cooperation, foreign companies were supposed to open representative offices in Russia, but they did not do so.
Data on the agency's website indicates that the restriction of some websites began in March of this year. The blocking was carried out on the basis of non-compliance with the requirements in the format of the "landing" law. IT companies with a large number of visitors from the Russian Federation must open their branches in Russia.
From March 5 to April 10, the websites of eight companies were blacklisted by Roskomnadzor. Among them:
- Kamatera
- WPEngine
- HostGator.com
- Network Solutions
- DreamHost
- Bluehost
- Ionos
- DigitalOcean
Currently, Telegram, Apple, Google and TikTok are also included in the "landing" list.
It was previously reported that Roskomnadzor plans to integrate artificial intelligence into its monitoring systems. This move will help to identify prohibited information on the network more quickly.
