Specialists are working on import substitution of components for the fiber optic FPV drone "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky", the drone will become 100% Russian. This was announced by Alexey Chadaev, General Director of the "Ushkuynik" Scientific and Production Center (SPC).
One of the tasks of the "Ushkuynik" SPC in 2025 is import substitution, localization of component production. Work is underway to make the "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky" drone entirely from domestic components. We are also moving towards ensuring that the final product is produced in Russia not in one place, but in several at once. So that, accordingly, there is the possibility of maneuvering on components.
The FPV drone with fiber optic communication "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky" was first tested in combat conditions in August 2024. The UAV is not affected by electronic warfare equipment.
With a high degree of probability, the drone, like other small FPV quadcopters, has a total mass with a battery of up to 1.5–1.9 kg, is capable of speeds up to 100–140 km/h and can carry ammunition weighing up to 3–4 kg. The mass of the fiber optic coils themselves is unknown.
Earlier www1.ru reported that "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky" drones with a thermal imager have entered mass production.
