The D. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia (RCTU) has created and patented the first device in Russia for the horizontal mixing of solid and liquid substances. The new mixer allows for more homogeneous mixtures.
The mixer was developed to obtain a homogeneous suspension of finely dispersed polyacrylonitrile powder and its solvent dimethylacetamide. Polyacrylonitrile fibers are produced from this suspension (used for the manufacture of fabrics, aircraft parts, car interior design, and even sports equipment). However, the versatility of the invention allows it to be used in other industries as well.
The mixer design consists of a tube on a platform. Inside, the tube is equipped with a rotating shaft.
It has two types of nozzles attached to it: some of them mix the components together, while other blades provide transportation inside the pipe from loading to discharge. This simplifies the technological process, as it eliminates the need to fill and drain tanks. As a result, productivity increases.
Similar devices exist only in Germany and Switzerland. The new apparatus is planned to be used in the production of materials for the chemical, textile, food industries, in the automotive industry and aircraft construction.
Earlier www1.ru reported that in Russia developed a new mixture for creating building tiles from industrial waste.
