The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has reported a new Telegram scam. It involves fake voting schemes. By clicking on a link from a familiar contact, a Telegram user risks losing their account.
Scammers send messages on behalf of contacts who have been inactive for a long time, asking to vote for an acquaintance. The voting link leads to a phishing site. Clicking the link leads to the loss of the account in the messenger.
Representatives of the department recommend users not to click on suspicious links and to be careful online.
