Rosatom State Corporation has created a technology for producing fuel for a promising high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR). This was reported by the press service of the state corporation.
The technology is based on equipment from Russian companies. This year, it is planned to produce pilot batches of microfuel elements and fuel compacts, some of which will be sent for resource reactor tests and post-reactor studies.
The fuel consists of microfuel elements, which consist of a spherical fuel core with a multi-layer protective coating. These elements are placed in a graphite matrix and packed into cylindrical fuel compacts.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Rosatom removed nuclear fuel from the stopped units of the Leningrad NPP.
