A key feature of the T-62M family of tanks that have been removed from storage and modernized is the equipping of modern 1PN96MT-02 thermal sights. The system is capable of detecting "tank/BMP" type targets at night at a distance of about 2000 m, noted military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
The fire control systems of combat vehicles are integrated with the Sheksna guided weapon systems. They provide for firing 9M117M1 Arkan anti-tank guided missiles at a distance of up to 5500 m in day and twilight hours.
The tandem shaped-charge warhead (warhead) of the 9M117M1 missiles has armor penetration of about 830 mm behind dynamic protection (DZ). This makes it possible to hit German Leopard-2A4 tanks in various sectors of the frontal and side projections.
In addition, the 115-mm U-5TS smoothbore gun has proven itself well in operations from closed firing positions at a distance of 5-7 km using ballistic computers. T-62M tanks are equipped with Kontakt-1 dynamic protection kits.
