In 2024, passenger traffic on the Russian Railways network increased by 7% compared to 2023. In December, this figure increased by 2.1% year-on-year.
1.157 billion people were transported in suburban traffic, which is 7.3% more than in the previous year. In long-distance traffic, the number of passengers reached 127.4 million people, showing an increase of 4.4%.
In December 2024, 103.2 million passengers were transported on the railway infrastructure of Russian Railways. This is 2.1% more than in the same period of the previous year. In suburban traffic, 93.8 million passengers were sent, which is 2.2% more than a year earlier. In long-distance traffic — 9.4 million passengers, which is 0.6% more.
Earlier, Russian Railways began to sell tickets for trains through "Express-NP". This is a domestic booking system of a new generation, which specialists have been working on for almost five years. It will be more dynamic and flexible, which will allow us to quickly introduce new digital customer services and respond to passenger requests much more quickly.
