A batch of more than 150 modern infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers entered service with the motorized rifle formation of the Central Military District (CVO) in 2024.
The army received more than 30 BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, about 50 modernized BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles and more than 70 BTR-82A armored vehicles.
The BMP-3 is armed with a 100-mm gun for firing guided and unguided ammunition, a 7.62-mm PKT machine gun and a 30-mm cannon.
The BMP-2M is equipped with a 30-mm automatic cannon, a paired 7.62-mm PKTM machine gun, a 130-mm Kornet anti-tank missile system and a 30-mm AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher.
The BTR-82A received a 30-mm automatic rapid-fire cannon paired with a 7.62-mm PKTM machine gun.
