Work on the highway from the 97th to the 111th kilometer completed a year ahead of schedule

The expansion of the R-23 highway from the 97th to the 111th kilometer has been completed on the section between Bolshaya Yaschera and Mshinskaya in the Luzhsky district of the Leningrad region. Now this part of the federal road has become four-lane. The work was completed ahead of schedule by a year.

As part of the major repairs, oncoming traffic flows were separated using a barrier, and a comfortable infrastructure was created for pedestrians.

In the village of Sorochkino, sidewalks were equipped, bus shelters were installed, and artificial lighting was provided, making the environment safer and more convenient for residents.

The highway partially passes through swampy areas. To prevent the formation of heaving and subsidence of the road, peat extraction was carried out on the section, weak soils were replaced, and the slopes of the embankment in areas prone to flooding were strengthened.

The road surface structure includes five layers of asphalt concrete. The top layer is made of SMA-16 stone mastic asphalt concrete, selected using the volumetric-functional design method, which ensures increased wear resistance of the pavement.

The work on this section is part of a large-scale plan to convert the R-23 highway in the region to a four- and six-lane format by the end of 2029.
