The research and expedition vessel (RES) "Mikhail Somov" project No. 550 "Amguema" has entered scheduled maintenance in the floating dock of the "Krasnaya Kuznitsa" shipyard (part of USC). Specialists will conduct a scheduled inspection of the underwater part of the vessel before the upcoming navigation.
RES "Mikhail Somov" is a veteran of Arctic routes, named after the famous Soviet Arctic explorer Mikhail Somov.
The vessel participated in the 21st Soviet and Russian Antarctic expeditions. The RES continues to carry out voyages to transport cargo to polar stations, oil workers, border posts, and military personnel in the Arctic.
