Installation of the technological equipment of the first heat removal circuit and transport and technological systems for the fourth-generation MBIR fast neutron research reactor has begun at the site of the State Scientific Center - Research Institute of Atomic Reactors (SSC RIAR, part of Rosatom State Corporation). This was reported by the state corporation's press service.
The fresh assembly drum is designed to heat fuel assemblies in an inert gas environment before they are installed in the reactor core. And the spent assembly drum is used to cool spent fuel assemblies unloaded from the reactor in an inert gas environment.
Two intermediate heat exchangers have been installed in the design position. Each of which weighs 38 tons, has a height of 9 meters and a diameter of 2.5 meters.
The installation was carried out with high precision, the deviation from the horizontal did not exceed 1 mm per 1 meter. Drums for fresh and spent assemblies were also installed, each weighing 16 tons.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Rosatom created an experimental batch of fuel for the MBIR reactor.
