Petrozavodskmash Plant (part of the Rosatom State Corporation's Machine-Building Division) has begun shipping the main circulation pump (MCP) casings for power unit No. 8 of the Tianwan NPP, which is being built according to the Russian project in China. This is the largest NPP in the world.
According to the manufacturers, in the process of manufacturing, the pump casings undergo all the necessary types of control, including X-ray, and a set of tests. The most important of the tests is hydraulic testing with overpressure (24.5 MPa). After receiving a positive conclusion based on the results of all checks, the equipment is recognized as ready for shipment, it is painted and preserved.
Currently, the machine builders have manufactured, tested, and shipped the first of four pumping units to the construction site, which will be installed in the reactor hall.
Prior to this, Rosatom sent key parts of the facility to the Tianwan NPP in China: the nuclear reactor vessel and steam generators.
