In the Transbaikal Territory, on the Bushuley — Zhireken section in the Chernyshevsky district, two freight trains collided, resulting in 24 cars derailing. The incident occurred on December 22 at approximately 07:30 (local time) on the 6623 km of the Transbaikal Railway.
Preliminary, the cause of the accident was a fracture of the wheelset frame of one of the trains. As a result of the collision, train traffic was completely suspended in both directions. However, there was no threat to environmental safety, and no one was injured.
More than 40 railway workers and three recovery trains are working at the scene to eliminate the consequences of the derailment. In addition, an investigation team has been dispatched to the scene, and the Mogochinsk Transport Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the implementation of legislation on railway traffic safety.
